Michael Agosta is a partner in the firm’s Litigation Group where he represents businesses and individuals in high stakes disputes arising from complex business relationships including breach of contract claims, partnership disputes, and financial services litigation in state and federal courts. He works with clients to resolve conflicts efficiently, whether through negotiation, litigation, or via alternative dispute resolution.

Michael represents clients across a wide range of industries including financial services, real estate, and technology. He has defended companies in contract and fiduciary duty claims, managed complex internal investigations involving corporate governance and securities issues, and served on trial teams in state and federal courts. He is known for his calm, thorough approach and for earning clients’ trust by understanding both the legal and business dimensions of every matter.

Prior to joining A.Y. Strauss, Michael practiced for more than a decade at prominent firms where he handled a broad range of complex commercial and financial disputes. Most recently, Michael served as Counsel in the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority’s (“FINRA”) department of enforcement where he led investigations into broker-dealers and registered representatives concerning violations of FINRA Rules and securities laws. His work involved building cases from the ground up, deposing witnesses, analyzing data, and bringing enforcement actions that often resulted in significant financial recovery for investors. This investigative rigor and comprehensive understanding of the regulatory process inform his litigation strategy, enabling him to anticipate strategic angles and navigate disputes effectively on behalf of clients.
