James Mansfield is an associate at A.Y. Strauss in the Litigation practice group. James represents clients in a broad range of complex state and federal litigation matters.

Prior to joining the firm, James worked for two established law firms in New York City, representing large financial institutions involved in complex securities litigation and regulatory enforcement action. His prior experience included defending a large institutional bank from breach of contract claims brought by RMBS investors, advising financial institutions on SEC and other reporting requirements for derivative transactions and defending public companies in connection with potential regulatory violations.

Representative Matters

  • Co-drafted summary judgment briefs and Daubert filings in defending a large institutional bank from breach of contract claims brought by RMBS investors
  • Advised large investment bank in the reporting of its security-based swap transactions in preparation of the adoption of new SEC reporting rules
  • Represented financial services client in responding to investigations related to allegations of potentially manipulative activity and violations of the Bank Secrecy Act’s anti-money laundering provisions
  • Represented institutional banks in SEC and CFTC investigations into alleged recordkeeping violations arising from alleged off-channel communications
