Alona Magidova is a partner in the Family Law Practice Group at A.Y. Strauss. With more than two decades of experience guiding clients through divorce, custody, and other family law matters, Alona is known for her compassionate yet strategic approach. She helps clients navigate emotionally charged situations with honesty, clarity, and care.

Alona represents individuals and families across New Jersey in matters involving divorce, custody, child support, alimony, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, and post-judgment disputes. Born in Ukraine and raised in the United States, she is fluent in Russian and draws on her multicultural background to connect with clients from all walks of life. She believes the cornerstone of effective representation is empathy paired with candor, offering straightforward guidance, individualized strategy, and reassurance during life’s most challenging transitions.

Alona takes a pragmatic and results-driven approach to every matter, focusing on achieving efficient, effective outcomes while minimizing unnecessary costs and conflict. A court-approved family mediator, she maintains an active mediation practice that includes both private and court-appointed matters, helping families resolve disputes through practical, less adversarial means. Beyond her client work, Alona is actively involved in the legal community, serving on the Croland Family Inn of Court, the Essex and Union County Early Settlement Panels, and the District VC Fee Arbitration Committee.

Prior to joining A.Y. Strauss, Alona spent nearly a decade at a respected full-service New Jersey law firm. Earlier in her career, she practiced at both mid-sized and boutique firms focused on family law and commercial litigation, gaining extensive experience in negotiation, mediation, and courtroom advocacy.
